Mindfulness at St Nicholas

Headteacher, Miss Anna Guerin brings to St Nicholas a new programme called ‘Mindfulness’ which will be introduced to KS2 children starting this week.  The programme will be integrated into the curriculum to help children learn coping mechanisms to deal with the stresses of everyday life.  Miss Guerin explains, “Mental health is an important aspect of what we do to support our children and establishing healthy ways to navigate stress and anxiety is key to avoiding mental health issues down the line.  The earlier we can instil these skills the better.”   Some useful apps and reading include ‘Take 5″ a guided meditation app for children and “Mindfulness for children, Mindfulness: Finding Peace in a Frantic World by Prof Mark Williams and Danny Penman.
