Montessori Nursery

'St. Nicholas children get off to a flying start in the early years and achieve above the national expectations for this age group. The quality of the early years’ provision is outstanding.' SIS 2017

In our Montessori nursery, our focus is on the development of the whole child; the physical, social, emotional and the cognitive. We foster learning through natural curiosity and promote independence. Children are given the opportunity to make decisions, give reasons for choices, take risks and practise, consolidate and apply their learning.

Dedicated Montessori staff ensure each child is happy, confident and successful. Our young children benefit from specialist teaching in music, PE, French and Mandarin. By providing a programme of structured activities, alongside learning through discovery and play, the children grow in self-assurance and develop a wide range of skills.

Our aim for each child is that they will become the very best that they can be, both inside and outside the classroom. We believe that our high level of care, challenge and support will ensure the happiest and most successful start to our youngest children’s journey through education.

Our Montessori nursery accepts children half termly from the age of 3, with attendance being full time. All children potentially joining our nursery will spend time with the Head of Pre-Prep. This session is informal and its purpose is to ensure that children will thrive at St Nicholas in our nursery and beyond.
