A key point of entry to St Nicholas Preparatory School is to Reception when children are 4+ years.

Once you have registered your child for a place, your son or daughter will need to attend one of our Reception Readiness sessions.  These are held at the end of January for entry into Reception the following September.   Prospective pupils are invited to attend in small groups of up to 6 children.  The purpose of the Readiness session is to ensure your child will thrive at St Nicholas.

The sessions are run by our Head of Pre-Prep, Miss Katie Paynter. She will spend time getting to know your child as an individual. The session is fun, engaging, age-appropriate and interactive.  We will be looking at your child’s fundamental skills in mathematics, literacy, problem solving, investigation and enquiry, as well as the softer skills of cooperation, collaboration, perseverance, resilience and kindness.

Following your child’s visit to the school, 38 places are offered in early February for the following September.  Should your child not be offered a place initially, their name will be placed on a waitlist.
