Extra Curricular Activities
After School Clubs
An exciting range of after-school clubs enriches our curriculum. There is a wide choice of activities to capture everyone’s interest, from jazz dance, judo, orchestra and cookery to Mandarin, Lego, chess, netball and swimming.
Most clubs are run by our own staff but to widen the range we also use reputable and reliable outside agencies. Drama is taken by Allsorts Drama Ltd, Judo is taught by Su Trinci-Webster (Black Belt, Second Dan, British Judo Association) and Jazz Dance is run by Sarah Gawn who has a degree in Dance and the Performing Arts. Chelsea Ballet School run our Ballet club and Rock Climbing club is taken by qualified staff at Imperial College. We frequently employ Sports Xtra to lead a range of additional clubs, such as fencing.
Trips play an important part in children’s learning and the Science and Natural History Museums, Battersea Zoo, the Unicorn Theatre and Legoland are just some of the places our pupils visit. Our residential trips in the UK and Europe are always hugely popular. In the summer term Years 5 and 6 attend a five-day outdoor adventure holiday trip to Osmington Bay in Dorset and in the spring term all Key Stage 2 children are invited to attend the annual ski trip to Italy.
We also organise visits from a variety of outside speakers to engage and inspire our children. A schedule of speakers and events can be found in our school calendar.
Teddy, Year 3
Clubs at St. Nicholas are great, I do table tennis, chess and swimming. Chess is good because it teaches you mathematical strategies and co-ordinates. I enjoy swimming and table tennis because I have learnt lots of new skills.
