Book Week
10 October 2011Many congratulations to all those who took part in the activities of Book Week. There was so much on offer: the author Christopher Lloyd’s amazing session on how the world was made, the dressing up day, with “Cinderella revisited”, the story picnic with parents reading to children in their own languages, the teddy bear stories read by a visiting bear and the marvellous book fairs with wonderful books to choose. This week was generously supported by the Friends, financially, gifting each child a voucher to spend on books and also coming to read in many languages. The children had a marvellous week and entered into the spirit of things.
There is still time to enter the "reading in an unusual place" photo competition and children have been invited to write an alternative ending to Cinderella. I'd like to thank Julie, Nicola and Nadine who organised everything so creatively, and all my colleagues whose sense of fun and creativity was showcased in their marvellous costumes and said so much about what makes this school so special. Photos from Book Week will soon appear on the Parent Portal.
