Head's Biography
Jill Aisher
An Oxford graduate of French with a PGCE from London University, Jill’s teaching career has spanned some 20 years. From 2004-2010 she was Deputy Head at Newton Prep, a large co-educational Prep School in Battersea. During her time there she enjoyed a number of whole school responsibilities including the Development Plan, staff appraisal and training, the management of the calendar, website and Classics department. She also ran the Eco Team and gained the Eco Schools Bronze Award. Previously at Tiffin School in Kingston for over 13 years, including a career break, as a member of SMT, Head of Year 7, Staff Governor and Head of Languages, she combined for over ten years her love of theatre with her creative writing for the European Theatre Company. Jill wrote seven shows in French which toured schools all over the land. “Abracadabra” won a European Award for Languages in 2004. Each KS3 show reached over 40,000 pupils. The KS2 tours have played to an average of 16,000 children. Her last show, a dual script production for both KS2 and KS3; Cendrine Bio toured from January to June 2008.
Outside of work, Jill has enjoyed five years as a trustee of the National Association for Gifted Children and three years as PTA chair at Grand Avenue School, Surbiton. She enjoys theatre, music, travel and time with her family. She has three children, all very musical ; Peter (22), a choral scholar at Clare College Cambridge, reading Natural Sciences, Jack (20) a choral scholar at King’s College, London, reading Music and Emily (15) an academic scholar at The King’s School, Canterbury. Jill has been married to Johnny for over a quarter of a century! He works for the John Lewis Partnership.
